Ok, dont know squat about captain Kidd. But my family was originally royalty who migrated over here for what I will call love. Knowing the family as I do, it would be safe to say the gentleman was crafty. He might give up a little, but would never give up his loot. It most likely was with his family, be it his pirate family of real family. Thats where I would look.

 Hi All "

CSharp, you maybe onto something there.!!

After he was hung he was cut down then chained to a post until the tidal waters of the Thames
had ebbed and flowed  three times over his body, as Admiralty law prescribed...

 The mystery continues ~    Cool

Thankyou. Also sources i didn't know until now. Btw: The literature in german about pirates is mostly just kish. Only a few sources tried to give an original view. Also in popular english literature exists a lot of kish, but there are at least some sources without any kish. This is what i'm looking for.

Hello csharp

Once again well done with finding on an early document on Kidd's execution.

Strange that it mentions the old Baily as place of trial when searching the old Baily records there was no mention of Captain Kidd's piracy case?

Perhaps the trial took place in the old Baily but was not run by the civil court but by the admiralty court. Poor Kidd even today it seems he was never going to get a fair trial back then.Conveniently his letter of mark was never found during the trial You can see the politics behind his execution, in what we would call a cover up today.

Hardluck.

As always the most heinous pirates never set sail.  Wink

Kidd has the last laugh I think, for though he was ill used and not very successful in my opinion, his name is known round the world even today while his masters are lost to all but a few curious folk.

Kharma or the perversity of fate?  Grin
